After earning his PhD in Chemistry in 1996, Alexander joined Döhler, leading R&D on raw materials and technology, developing functional ingredients and identifying market opportunities.

In 1999 he moved to business development for FTNF flavours, launching a commercial track.

He then led concept management, B2C product management, and flavour product management globally.

Next he headed innovation management at Celanese, focused on natural sweetening and preservation.

In 2013 he joined ICL as Beverages and Bakery Segment Lead, shifting phosphates toward protein solutions.

Back at Döhler since 2017, he leads the Health Business Unit and, since mid‑2025, manages the FNL Institute.
